Labour on Employment Equity Reports submission deadline

Large employers reminded to submit their Employment Equity
Reports

21 September 2007

The Department of Labour reminds all large employers to submit their
Employment Equity Reports on-line before the set October 1 deadline. The
reminder is a follow up to employment equity road shows that were recently
conducted countrywide encouraging large employers who employ 150 or more to
file their reports ahead of time.

Zolisa Sigabi, Departmental Spokesperson said "it helps to start reporting
early and therefore avoid the last-minute rush that is so often the case.
Reporting at the eleventh hour often doesn't allow you enough time to correct
whatever mistakes that could be in your report," she said.

She said it was in companies' interest to submit employment equity reports.
The Minister of Labour would like to see all companies, especially those listed
on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE), appear in the public register.
This is a list of all employers who have submitted their Employment Equity
Reports to the Minister. It is published in the government gazette.
