The North West Department of Health MEC, Dr Magome Masike will lead a team of health promoters and healthcare workers to raise awareness about Sexually Transmitted Infections and the importance of using condom in Lichtenburg on Monday, 11 March. The awareness programme is scheduled to start at 09h00 in Boikhutso Ext 2.
This is done in accordance with national STI’s/ condom week under the theme “A re dlale safe for zero new STI, HIV and TB infections, zero new unwanted pregnancies”. The move is aimed at decreasing the number of new STI and HIV infections, advocate for delayed sexual debut and to help prevent unwanted pregnancy amongst the general population.
The awareness will also focus on the importance of early booking for antenatal care and discouraging home deliveries.
