MEC David Maynier tables Western Cape Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement, 26 Nov

Western Cape Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement to be tabled in the provincial legislature

On Thursday, 26 November 2020, the Western Cape Minister for Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier, will be tabling the Western Cape Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) and the 2020 Adjusted Estimates of Provincial Revenue and Expenditure in the provincial legislature.

When Premier Alan Winde delivered his special address in the provincial legislature a month ago he outlined a new set of priorities - “Jobs”, “Safety” and “Wellbeing” - which together form the pillars of the post-Covid-19 recovery plan in the Western Cape.

The MTBPS will detail the support package that will provide immediate relief and support the delivery of these priorities so that we can bounce back in the Western Cape.

In addition, the MTBPS will include:

  • our revised fiscal framework for the current financial year and the proposed fiscal framework for the next three years;
  • our response to the proposed budget cuts by national government, as well as how we plan to protect frontline services; and
  • our budget policy priorities to deliver our vision for a safer Western Cape where everyone prospers.
