Western Cape Government marks Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day with oversight visit in Atlantis, 10 Sept

MECs Nomafrench Mbombo and Albert Fritz visit Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder facilities in Atlantis, 10 Sept

Today, 10 Sept 2018, the Western Cape MECs of Health, Nomafrench Mbombo, and Social Development, Albert Fritz, will conduct a joint oversight visit of facilities rendering services that treat and deal with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) in Atlantis.

The Ministers will be joined by NGOs, the TB/HIV CARE and specialist organization, the Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR).

In light of yesterday being FASD Awareness Day, the Ministers will today visit the Protea Park clinic and join local Community Health Workers for a FAS home visit. The Ministers will then visit specialist ECD centre, the Orion Wilge Daycare Centre, which accommodates children with disabilities, including disability caused by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

There will be an opportunity for interviews and photos.
