Limpopo Provincial Government will host Limpopo Water and Sanitation Summit

The Limpopo Provincial Government led by Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha will host the Provincial Water and Sanitation Summit at Warmbaths Forever Resort in Bela-Bela Municipality on the 16 October 2018. Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha will officially open the summit. The summit comes at a time most parts of the province are experiencing water shortages.

During the State of the Province Address (SOPA) on 23 February 2018, Premier Chupu Mathabatha pronounced that “In October the Limpopo Provincial government will convene a Provincial Water and Sanitation Summit”.  The Minister of Department of Water and Sanitation, Mr Gugile Nkwinti will deliver a keynote address at the Limpopo Provincial Water and Sanitation Summit.

In preparation to this summit there were Districts Summits held across the province. The strategic objective of the summit is to find lasting solutions to water and sanitation resource management and services demand guided by the Limpopo Development Plan (LDP) in areas such as household connections, Provincial Growth Points (PGP), Musina/Makhado Special Economic Zone (SEZ), industries, agriculture and mining sector. The Provincial Water Infrastructure Master Plan will also be reviewed.

Stakeholders like CoGHSTA, LEDET, Agriculture and Rural Development, District Municipalities, Provincial Growth Points (Lephalale, Fetakgomo - Tubatse, Musina and Makhado and Polokwane), Service Water Authorities (Lepelle Northern Water, Magalies Water) will be in attendance.
