National Treasury and Wits Journalism will be holding a pre-budget workshop on Monday, February 18, 2019 ahead of the Budget which Finance Minister Tito Mboweni will table in Parliament on February 20, 2019.
The workshop will be led by Professor Michael Sachs, who teaches economics at Wits. Sachs worked at National Treasury between 2008 and 2017, rising to the position of head of the budget office.
The session is intended to give journalists a better working understanding of what the budget is and how it is put together to inform their reporting on this key document.
