Minister Blade Nzimande pays tribute to late MEC Bheki Ntuli

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation pays tribute to Mr Bheki Ntuli, The KwaZulu-Natal Transport Member of The Executive Committee

Like many of my colleagues in Cabinet and within the revolutionary Alliance, the African National Congress (ANC), the South African Communist Party (SACP) and Congress of the South African Trade Unions (COSATU), I would like to pass my deepest condolences the KwaZulu-Natal transport MEC Bheki Ntuli’s family, the KwaZulu Natal provincial government, friends and relatives on his death.

Having known uMphemba as a revolutionary activist for the longest part of his life, it was befitting that in his honour, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a category one official funeral for him. This is an appropriate send-off for a gallant fighter and revolutionary leader of our movement and people.

In MEC Ntuli, I have not only lost a colleague, but a comrade and a leader who would take up any task given to him, no matter how big or small. He was not a person who was content with self-enrichment at the expense of the poor and the working class and the marginalised majority. He always demonstrated the level of political consciousness that was so sacrosanct.

He was always a selfless, dedicated, loyal and outright person who was not afraid to speak his mind, even though he risked losing friendship.

The political maturity and clarity always demonstrated was that of the likes of Moses Kotane, JB Marks and Sidney Bunting. In recent times, I also a pleasure to be deployed with him as a national champion for the District Development Model in the Zululand District, whilst MEC Ntuli was deployed as a provincial champion. As always, it was pleasurable to have worked with him.

At the time of his death, MEC Ntuli was also a member of the African National Congress (ANC’s) provincial executive committee (PEC).

Lala ngoxolo, Godide, Mphemba, Ndlela kaSompisi, Sothole!!
