Deputy Minister Buti Manamela opens centre of specialisation at Boland TVET College in Stellenbosch, 20 Feb

Deputy minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Mr Buti Manamela, to officially open the centre of specialisation at Boland TVET College in Stellenbosch

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Mr Buti Manamela (MP), will give a keynote address at an Official Opening of the Centre of Specialisation at the Boland TVET College in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

The Centres of Specialisation Programme is a Department of Higher Education and Training initiative designed to meet two objectives simultaneously. Firstly, to address the demand for priority trades needed for the implementation of government’s National Development Plan in general and National Infrastructure Plan more particularly. Secondly, to contribute towards the building of the capacity of its public TVET college system to deliver trade qualifications with the support of employer partners.

This programme was created to assist selected Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges to improve their capacity to develop competent artisans with industry partners. Further, it seeks to pioneer the way for transformation of the college system to make them more relevant and responsive to the demand of industry labour needs, and ensuring that they deliver high-level quality occupational programmes.
