Parliament hosts Legacy Summit, 28 to 29 Nov

South African Legislative Sector hosts a two-day legacy summit

The Speakers’ Forum, a Forum of Presiding of Officers of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures, is hosting a two-day Legacy Summit under the auspices of the South African Legislative Sector (SALS).  The summit forms part of a Speakers’ Forum legacy project aimed at documenting and highlighting the work and achievements of the legislative sector, with a specific focus on the fifth parliamentary term (2014 to 2019).

The Summit will develop recommendations on the transformational role of the SALS towards achieving the country’s strategy for consideration by the sixth Parliament.

The two-day program will commence with an address by Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms Baleka Mbete. Among those expected at the Summit include Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Mogoeng Mogoeng, Speakers of Provincial Legislatures, European Union Ambassador to South Africa, Mr.  Marcus Carnaro and Representatives from Academia.

Topics to be addressed include “The Fourth Industrial Revolution or First Digital Revolution: Implications for Parliament and Provincial Legislatures”
