South Africa Social Security Agency on Mpumalanga card swap

Social grants beneficiaries to do card swap immediately.

Mpumalanga, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is concerned about the slow pace in which grant beneficiaries are coming for the old SASSA card swap. Only 42% percent has been migrated to the new SASSA card. All beneficiaries are reminded that if they fail to do the card swap before 14 December 2018 they are at the risk of not getting their grants in January 2019.

While significant progress has been made in migrating beneficiaries of social grants from the old SASSA cards to the new gold cards, the agency is concerned that some beneficiaries are still holding on to the old cards, which have reached their expiry date. Beneficiaries must note that they have a right of choosing their own preferable method of payments which can be the new SASSA card or own banking account.

Beneficiaries who are still in possession of the old card can do a card swap at their nearest SASSA or South African Post Office. They have to bring along their green barcoded or smart card ID and the old card so that they can be issued with the new one. The process takes less than five minutes.

Beneficiaries seeking more information should contact our toll free on 0800 60 10 11 from 8h00 – 16h00 during week days Monday – Friday.
