MEC Kwazi Mshengu inspects Baily Bridge project in New Hanover, 12 Feb

Acting KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Kwazi Mshengu will tomorrow, 12 February 2021, conduct ‘Operation Siyahlola’ over a R110 million Baily Bridge project in New Hanover under uMshwathi Local Municipality.

Operation Siyahlola, is the Provincial Government’s monitoring programme which involves paying visits to various projects and service delivery frontline points to inspect the implementation of government projects and to gauge the quality of service rendered to members of the public.

The construction of the Bailey Bridges commenced last year as part of a partnership between the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure and the Department of Defence and Military Veterans.

This programme is aimed at speeding up infrastructural rollout particularly of bridges in rural areas to ensure that these communities have easy access to schools and other public facilities.
