Eastern Cape Safety and Liaison rolls out Traditional Policing Concept in Mthatha, 8 Jan

Roll-out of the traditional policing concept at Bumbane Great Place

The Department of Safety and Liaison together with the South African Police Service will jointly roll-out the Traditional Policing Concept at Bumbane Great Place in Mthatha.

Traditional Policing Concept has been developed as a model for policing in rural traditionally led communities, as partners in the fight against crime.

The aim of the concept is to build capacity and strengthen partnerships in order to have a multi-disciplinary approach to address and reduce the fear of crime by jointly identifying the root causes, specifically in communities led by traditional leaders. Traditional policing concept is also one of the police’s endeavours to bring basic policing services closer to the community.

MEC Weziwe Tikana of the Department of Safety and Liaison, Executive Mayor: Councilor Dumani Zozo of King Sabata Dalindyebo Local Municipality, Lieutenant-General Liziwe Ntsinga of South African Police Service and a host of other profile figures will grace the programme with their presence.
