Public Workshop: South Africa Retail Banking Diagnostic

National Treasury and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) have published for public comment the diagnostic study prepared by the World Bank titled, “South Africa Retail Banking Diagnostic: Treating Customers Fairly in relation to Transactional Accounts and Fixed Deposits”.

The study aims to provide independent research on the extent to which banks treat their retail customers fairly. The recommendations of the study will inform steps to be taken by the FSCA to ensure that South Africans get affordable banking products that meet their everyday needs, including to save and to make and receive payments.

Comments on the findings and recommendations of the diagnostic study are invited until 16 October 2018. The National Treasury and FSCA are hosting a public workshop to support engagement on the diagnostic study, ahead of the deadline for comment submission. Media is welcome to attend the workshop.
