Premeir Job Mokgoro on public service governance

Public servants must hand over a sound and solid administration in 2019 – Premier Mokgoro

Mahikeng: North West Premier, Professor Tebogo Job Mokgoro said it is incumbent upon government workers to hand over a sound and solid administration in 2019 which is not characterized by scepticism, lack of trust and accountability, allegations of rampant corruption and poor leadership. 

Premier Mokgoro was addressing Senior and Middle Managers in the employ of various provincial government departments as part of his ongoing engagements with internal and external stakeholders as new Premier of the North West Province.

In the meeting which was attended by the Heads of Departments, Chief Directors, Directors, Deputy and Assistant Directors, Premier Mokgoro outline his vision and programme of action for the remainder of the current term saying the provincial government must regain the confidence of the citizens of province by delivering services with more commitment and vigour to change the lives of our people. 

“Public service must be more than just drawing salaries at the end of the month; it should be about doing the community a good service in an efficient, committed and honest manner. It must be a complete dedication to the people and to the growth of a nation” said Premier Mokgoro who reiterated that the party is over; and that it is time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

Professor Mokgoro believes with government systems and measures such as Batho Pele Principles remain very critical of all government measures in place.

“With Batho Pele Principles we are reminded of why and how we are expected to provide a better life to the people of this province. Batho Pele Principles are prescribed to achieve that single most important task of uniting the province and restore people’s confidence in the ability of government to deliver quality services” remarked Premier Mokgoro. 

Premier Mokgoro said corruption will not be tolerated and will uprooted by all means necessary. “Corruption, as well as allegations thereof, should be a thing of the past and I wish to reiterate that we will not allow our government departments to become a breeding ground for corrupt activities” concluded Premier Mokgoro.

Premier took the opportunity to welcome Section 100 intervention by Cabinet’s Inter-Ministerial Task Team and announced that he signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the necessary interventions. He appealed to staff member cooperate with administrators deployed in different government departments.
