Premier Sisi Ntombela on inclusion in Top 100 of most influential women in the African Continent

Top 100 of the most influential women in the African Continent gets recognition

The Premier of the Free State Province, Hon. SH Ntombela, welcomes with great humility her inclusion in the most influential 100 women in the African continent for the year 2020 by a leading public relations and ratings firm, Avance Media on the 17th August 2020.

The top 100 most influential women in the African continent list, recognizes the African women who have excelled in various fields including business, entertainment, education, philanthropy and governance.

The Premier believes firmly that recognizing the enormous contribution made by women in the development of the African continent, demonstrates a critical departure from the monster of patriarchal partitioning which has always located the role of women to be secondary to that of their male counterparts.

She also believes that public policies across the continent must be geared towards the full empowerment of women, as an immediate response to the many decades of women exclusion in the socio-economic mainstream.

The attainment of a nonsexist, non-racial, democratic, prosperous and free society is impossible, for as long as society still perceives and treats women as second class citizens. This has fueled her commitment towards ensuring that women across the spectrum claim their rightful space in society.

“I believe that the values and principles of selflessness, sacrifice and service, must always serve as the trademark features of those entrusted with the leadership responsibility by the people. Whilst much progress has been made by the democratic government in relation to the women emancipation, there remains some stubborn social fault lines such as the scourge of Gender Based Violence, fermicide and patriarchal practices. All of these challenges must be fought by society in its entirety”, said Premier.

The premier of the Free State Province, Hon. SH Notmbela said: "I welcome this recognition with humility, and I hope our contribution will serve as an inspiration to millions of young women and motivate them to excel in their various spheres of life. I am grateful to my organization, the ruling party, which instilled in me the values of selflessness, service and sacrifice. Not forgetting our communities, who have always supported the work that we do and never gave up on us whenever we faltered and most importantly my family, which has served as my most important support structure during the most difficult times".
