Premier of the North West Province Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro will tomorrow, Wednesday 24 March, lead the Province’s World TB Day commemoration event in Greater Taung Local Municipality, Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District. The Premier will be accompanied by the MEC for Health Madoda Sambatha, Tribal Authorities, Civil Society Leaders and Members of the Provincial AIDS Council.

The World Tuberculosis Day is commemorated annually on 24 March, and will this year be hosted under strict COVID-19 regulations, under the theme "The clock is ticking: Let's find, treat and end TB now".

"The province is working in collaboration with stakeholders like traditional healers, traditional leaders, faith based organisations and community organisations to tackle HIV/AIDS and TB. Tuberculosis (both Susceptible and Drug Resistant) burden in North West Province is estimated at 5187, with the highest burden districts being Bojanala Platinum and Dr Kenneth Kaunda as more people are attracted by job opportunities, mainly at the mines. With the ongoing efforts of the Provincial AIDS Council which is led by our Premier, we believe we will achieve more in the fight against TB", said MEC Madoda Sambatha
