Premier Alan Winde visits Hanover Park holiday safety programme, 10 Dec

Tomorrow, Tuesday 10 December 2019, Premier Alan Winde will visit one of the Western Cape Department of Education’s Safe Schools programmes which provide constructive activities to keep children safe during the school holidays.

Approximately 3000 learners across the province are expected to attend various Safe Schools activities across the province during the December school holiday. They can look forward to activities like snorkling, beach cleanups, yoga, arts and crafts, as well as indigenous games.

Some learners will be attending Safe Schools Development Camps which have been organised in areas where gangsterism, substance abuse and a high crime rate are rife.

Premier Winde will visit Parkfields Primary School in Hanover Park, where learners will be participating in a life skills programme. Representatives from the Safe Schools programme will also be in attendance.

Safe Schools works in partnership with local police and community organisations such as Neighbourhood Watches and Community Policing Forums to promote school safety during the school term, as well as over the holidays.
