Premier Alan Winde update on Coronavirus COVID-19 on 17 September

As at 1pm on 17 September 2021, the Western Cape had 14 147 active COVID-19 infections, with a total number 514 499 COVID-19 cases to date and 480 886 recoveries.

By 5pm on 16 September 2021, the Western Cape Government had administered a cumulative total of 2 586 801 vaccines to healthcare workers, staff in the education sector and those within eligible age brackets.

The current 7-day moving average is 52 deaths per day.

The Western Cape Government, through the Provincial Department of Health, will be operating weekend vaccination sites in the metro and rural communities. I encourage you to make use of these sites and play your part in saving lives and livelihoods.

Weekend vaccine sites to operate on Sunday for Garden Route & Northern/Tygerberg Subdistrict

The Western Cape Government is committed to ensuring that each resident can get vaccinated in a safe and conveniently located setting which is why we are operating weekend vaccination sites this Saturday and Sunday.

This weekend, the bulk of Sunday sites are being opened in the Northern/Tygerberg subdistrict and in the Garden Route.

I encourage you to make use of these vaccine sites and take up your vaccine opportunity to ensure that you protect yourself and those around you.

This weekend, following vaccination sites will be open to the public in the Cape Metro:

Southern/Western:

  • Saxon Sea Community Hall (08:00-12:00 on Saturday only)
  • Mamre DCD (08:00 – 14:00 on Saturday only)
  • Du Noon CHC (08:00-12:00 on Saturday only)

  • Grassy Park Civic Centre (09:00 – 14:00 on Saturday only)
