Post Office on untimely death of Dr Vuyo Mahlati

The board, management and employees of the South African Post Office were left with a profound sense of shock and loss after learning of the untimely death of Dr Vuyo Mahlati.

Dr Mahlati served two terms as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the SA Post Office. Under her oversight the Post Office received a Centre for Public Services and Innovation (CPSI) award for innovation, a ‘Transformation’ recognition from the Universal Postal Union, a Da Vinci Holdings award for successfully managing technology and a National Business of the Year Award for service delivery and business performance.

Dr Mahlati oversaw the transition of the entity from traditional to digital business in mail, logistics and banking.  Even now the entity remains set on this course to adapt to changes in market requirements such as the fourth industrial revolution.

As a dedicated philanthropist she took a keen interest in the social investment strategies of the Post Office and here, she helped set the company on a course as a responsible corporate citizen.  She was instrumental in bringing about projects that extended basic rights to all South Africans, such as financial inclusion and address expansion which allows all in Mzansi to be economically active citizens.

The legacy of Dr Mahlati remains evident not only at the SA Post Office, but at all entities she served.  The Post Office family would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Dr Mahlati’s friends, family and colleagues.  May her soul rest in peace.
