MEC Sihle Zikalala presides over sod-turning ceremony for a shopping centre in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal, 17 Jan

Over 200 jobs to be created in Bhamshela as KwaZulu-Natal moves with speed to stimulate rural economy

In his drive to accelerate the diversification and igniting of rural economy through tangible investment and development, the KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Sihle Zikalala will preside over the sod turning ceremony of a R61,4 million Bhamshela shopping centre in Ndwedwe.

The massive project which has already garnered major retailers and companies as tenants with lengthy lease agreements is the brainchild of an Umlazi-based entrepreneur and his partner. Augmenting this is the massive jobs creation spin-offs as a total 235 job opportunities ranging from highly skilled to non-skilled will be created as a result.

Infrastructure capital for the project was made possible, by Edtea’s entity, the Growth Fund. The Fund finances private –sector promoted infrastructure and industrial projects aimed at unlocking the province’s economic development potential with sustainable employment that reduces inequality and promotes broad-based black economic empowerment.
