North West Legislature on grant payments and efforts to fight the spread Coronavirus COVID-19

NWPL Speaker appreciates work done by Premier Job Mokgoro and NW Government on grant payments and efforts they are making in combatting the spread of Covid-19 Virus in the Province

The North West Provincial Legislature Speaker Hon. Sussana Dantjie has expressed her appreciation on the work done by the North West Premier, Professor Job Mokgoro and the provincial government in ensuring that grant payments were done without any problems.

She also thanked Community Development Workers and volunteers in various wards who ensured that grant pension pay-outs are done without any qualms. She also appreciated the Oversight role played by Honourable Members of the Provincial Legislature during this difficult time.

"Thank you for ensuring that the vulnerable members of our societies, the elderly people and people living with disabilities received their grants without any problems during this difficult period in our country and the world over.

"It was not an easy task, with people having to adhere to the Covid-19 lockdown regulations, ensuring that we fight the spread of the virus amongst those who had to queue in long lines whilst receiving their payments," said the Hon. Speaker Dantjie.

Hon. Dantjie also appreciated the progress made by the provincial government for measures put in place to combat the spread of the virus which includes testing and screening also the planed distribution to taxi ranks of 428 boxes of gloves comprising 100 in each, 8140 masks, concentrated disinfectant chemicals comprising 20 litres which will be over 300 000 litres when diluted.

"I want to encourage our people to take this lockdown very seriously by applying these regulations; Please stay at home and wash your hands regularly with soap for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizers with alcohol; When you sneeze or cough use a tissue to cover your mouth and discard it immediately after using it;  and Maintain a social distance of 1 metre to other people.

"Most importantly, LET US STAY AT HOME AND BE SAFE," said Hon. Speaker Dantjie.
