Minister Dlodlo to unveil a Multi- Media Centre at a local primary school and lead a service delivery drive in Xikundu Village.

The Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo accompanied by MEC for Health in Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba and the Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Moses Maluleke will on Monday 15 April 2019, officially open the Ettian Tshabane Multi- Media Centre at Mayeke Higher Primary School in Xikundu Village.

The Multi- Media Centre which hosts about 21 computers for the 500 learner capacity school, was donated by the cellular phone giant, MTN in 2015 at the behest of the late Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Mr Collins Chabane, as part of his efforts to bring in technology development for learners in the rural village.

Minister Chabane had adopted the school in 2014 and became its patron with the aim of bringing advancement to the school and its learners.

The Centre will be named after the late Minister’s father, Ettian Tshabane, a staunch educator, committed public servant and one of the primary school pioneers who also served the longest as its principal.

Minister Dlodlo, will also hand over books to the school as well as school uniforms to selected learners from disadvantaged backgrounds within the community.

The Minister will then, join frontline service officials in Saselamani Stadium, as they bring various services to the community of Xikundu as part of government’s Batho Pele Programme.

Residents of Xikundu and surroundings will receive public services, information and interventions from various departments including Home Affairs, Health, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), Government Pensions Fund, and also have the opportunity to engage with the frontline officials from these service delivery institutions and receive first-hand information on how to access public services in a quicker and more efficient manner.

The community will also receive small business development assistance from Small Enterprise Development Agency and the Limpopo Connexion.

‘Batho Pele- putting people first’ programme is aimed at responding to service delivery challenges experienced by citizens in their communities, it also puts emphasis on making public services more accessible and also serves as a strategic vehicle that enables the government to interact with citizens in its quest to both improve and accelerate public service provision in support of the priorities of government.
