Monetary Policy Committee decision announcement on 19 March 2020
The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) press conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 19 March at 15:00. The media briefing to announce the MPC decision on interest rates will take place virtually and all media houses will be expected to dial into the press conference.
A satellite feed will be available to all broadcast agencies to enable the live broadcasting of the press conference, and it will also be available via webcast on https://antcast.antfarm.co.za/sarb/mpc2020/index.asp. Journalists will be given an opportunity to put questions to the Governor and MPC members via the same link. The full MPC statement with the decision will be sent to the media and uploaded on the SARB’s website as soon as the Governor has made the announcement.
The change in the format of the MPC decision announcement is in line with the measures announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa to limit public engagements in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
