Minister Zweli Mkhize attends 140th commemoration of “Battle of Isandlwana”, 25 Jan

The Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Zweli Mkhize will on Friday, 25 January 2019 attend the commemoration of the 140-year anniversary of the battle of Isandlwana.

The battle which pitted AmaZulu then led by His Majesty King Cetshwayo, against the British Army under the command of Major General Lord Chelmsford saw the annihilation of the colonial army. Armed with only pikes and spears, and without firearms, they advanced under a hail of bullets from the breech loaders, right up to the bayonets of the English infantry throwing them into disorder and even beating them back more than once”.

His Majesty King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu will be the main speaker at the historic commemoration.
