Minister Thoko Didiza hands over title deeds to Qhubekani-Mnqobokazi and Makhasa land claim beneficiaries, 14 Mar


Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Thoko Didiza will on Saturday 14th March 2020 hand over title deeds to beneficiaries of the Qhubekani-Mnqobokazi and Makhasa community trusts at a handover ceremony that will take place in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal province.

The title deed handovers follow a resolution by the inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Land Reform on 21 February 2020, that title deeds should be handed over to land claim beneficiaries in cases where land had been released by the state.

The Mnqobokazi and Makhasa land claims were respectively lodged on 28 September 1995 and 15 June 1998 with the Commission on Restitution of Land Rights, in the manner prescribed by Sections 11(1), and 2(1) of the Restitution of Land Rights Act, Act No 22 of 1994 (as amended).

Majority of the land that was released to the two trusts is currently used as conservation land under the Isimangaliso World Heritage Site.
