Minister Sisulu is comfortable with continuity underway at Umgeni Water
The Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Hon. Lindiwe Sisulu, on Saturday 24th October 2030, met with the Board and Executive of Umgeni Water. The Minister met the Umgeni Water representatives in light of the resignation of the CEO on Wednesday 21st October 2020. He had been in the position for the past seven years.
The Board under the Chairpersonship of Mr Magasela Mzobe, immediately took a decision that Ms Lungi Mkhize, the CFO at the entity, will act as CEO until the post of CEO is filled.
Minister Sisulu thanked the Board for the urgency and decisiveness in addressing the issue of the CEO's resignation and ensuring there is no vacuum with regard to the position. Minister explained that such decisiveness is important as Umgeni Water is a crucial roleplayer in the water sector and therefore continuity and stability are important cornerstones in the entity's armour.
The Umgeni Water Board and Executive will continue to provide the necessary support and expertise within the sector for the good of their stakeholders and the broader South African community.
