Minister of Agriculture Foresty and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana (MP) to host 2020 Fishing Rights Allocation Process Seminar In Somerset West

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Honourable Senzeni Zokwana will do the opening remarks at the 2020 Fishing Rights Allocation Process Seminar in Somerset West. The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) is hosting the Fishing Rights Allocation Process Seminar in preparation for Fishing Rights Allocation (FRAP) for 2020 which will be held over two days on Tuesday, 23 April 2019 and Wednesday, 24 April 2019. Furthermore, the DAFF will present the 2020 draft General Policy on the Allocation of Fishing Rights.

The aim of the seminar is to stimulate discussions and thoughts on issues (but limited to) broadening participation in the fishing industry in an equitable and fair manner guided by:

  • the need to restructure and transform the sector,
  • investments and development finance for small business and new entrants,
  • aquaculture and agro processing (diversification of the fishing sector) and
  • seafood trade and regulations.
