The Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa invites members of media to the annual Andrew Mlangeni Green Jacket Awards to be held on Saturday, 13 March 2021 at the Birchwood Hotel & Conferences Centre, Boksburg in Johannesburg.
Hosted annually since 2011, the Andrew Mlangeni Green Jacket Awards is the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture’s initiative that honours our country’s great sporting heroes and heroines of yesteryears. These are heroes and heroines who due to the previous policies of apartheid were discriminated against and neglected by the apartheid regime. Yet through their tenacity and the triumph of the human spirit, these sporting heroes and heroines had managed against all odds to achieve greatly on the sporting landscape both at local and internationally.
This is the first time the awards will take place without Baba Mlangeni after his passing in June 2020. The Andrew Mlangeni Green Jacket Awards are among others hosted in partnership with the June and Andrew Mlangeni Foundation.
