Minister Naledi Pandor hosts Limpopo students imbizo and opens new Vhembe Clinic, 10 Nov

Minister Naledi Pandor to host an imbizo for Limpopo students and open a New Clinic at Vhembe TVET College – Makwarela Campus – Saturday, 10 November 2018

The Minister of Higher Education and Training Naledi Pandor will host an imbizo for students in Limpopo and officially open a newly built Clinic at the Vhembe TVET College’s Makwarela Campus.

Organised in partnership with the Higher Education & Training Health, Wellness and Development (HEAIDS), the imbizo will focus on students and youth health, wellness and careers.

The clinic is an addition to the 18 similar campus-based facilities launched earlier this year as a result of a partnership between HEAIDS and the Limpopo Department of Health. Three of the clinics are operating at Vhembe TVET’s other campuses (Tshisimani, Mavhoi and Mashamba). Their sites were selected in order to benefit areas with limited access to other healthcare services.

Amongst the services the clinic will provide to students is the testing and screening for HIV, STIs, TB, blood-glucose and blood pressure measuring and family-planning.

About 1 500 students and learners from institutions of higher learning and Vhembe TVET College – Makwarela Campus are expected to attend the imbizo.

Other key stakeholders to attend and exhibit at this imbizo include, the Department of Health, Social Development, Limpopo LGBTI, Lifeline, Sonke Gender Justice, South African Police Service, University of Limpopo, Services Seta and University of Venda.
