Minister Mthethwa to host African Ministers to deliberate on the resolutions of the Summit

The Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa will host a delegation of African Ministers of Arts and Culture for the 2nd Ministerial Roundtable discussions on African public libraries and  Information Access.

The Roundtable of African Ministers will take place from 5-6 July 2018 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Durban in KwaZulu- Natal as a culmination of the 3rd African Public Libraries Summit currently underway.

Amongst other objectives, the Ministerial Roundtable will provide a strategic leadership and guidance on how governments can integrate libraries in their national development plans; and to safeguard allocation of resources in order to ensure that development goals are achieved.

During the discussions, the African Ministers will report on information access with regard to the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Charter for African Cultural Renaissance. The delegates are also expected to deliberate on the resolutions of the summit, as well as on the progress made since the Cape Town Declarations of August 2015.
