Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane takes Science and Technology to Boitekong, Rustenburg

On Friday, 16 November, the Minister of Science and Technology, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, accompanied by the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Local Municipality, Mpho Khunou, will address hundreds of learners, parents and community leaders during a science and technology exhibition at Boitekong local community hall.

This is a public participation event that profiles science and technology innovation in South Africa.  It is aimed at showing young people in the area how science works, to awaken their interest and encourage them to choose careers in the field. Science, technology and innovation is crucial for South Africa to achieve its goals for 2030 as per governments National Development Plan.

Government is making a concerted effort to improve conditions in the mining belt area. This year, the North West Department of Education and Sport Development partnered with Impala Platinum and the Impala Bafokeng Trust to invest over R80 million in building state-of-the-art schools in the area, to benefit over 2 000 learners.

The Department of Home Affairs and the SA Social Security Agency will also be onsite to offer their services during the event.
