Minister Mbalula to visit King Cetshwayo District Municipality as part of The District Development Model

The Minister of Transport, Mr Fikile Mbalula, will on Friday, 16 April 2021, visit the King Cetshwayo District Municipality (KCDM) as part of the Cabinet's deployment of the Minister as one of the champions for the District Development Model.

The Minister will be accompanied by Mrs Bongiwe Sithole -Moloi, the Member of the KwaZulu-Natal Executive Council responsible for Agriculture and Rural Development and Councillor Lindo Phungula, Mayor of King Cetshwayo

The District Development Model is a new integrated planning model that seeks to fast-track service delivery ensuring that municipalities work together.

The model fosters a ‘One Plan’ approach to local development that seeks to incorporate public, private and civil society participation and investment in a joint effort to provide service delivery, localize procurement and create jobs.

The Minister, the MEC and the Mayor will among others get updates on status, progress and planned future actions towards the KCDM One-Plan development. They will also conduct on-site inspections of developmental projects for economic development and job creation at the Port of Richard’s Bay.
