The Minister of Transport, Mr. Fikile Mbalula will on Thursday, 15 October 2020 join the Western Cape MEC forTransport and Public Works at the Provincial Taxi Lekgotla discussions.
The Minister launched the Taxi Lekgotla Public Discourse platform to create sustained momentum and public engagement towards the National Taxi Lekgotla, planned to take place at the end of October 2020.
The discussions lay a foundation for engagement by stakeholders and civil society on the future of the taxi industry as the largest mover of people in the country; sharpening perspectives in conversation with industry players and opinion-makers on best practices in formalizing, regulating and empowering the taxi industry.
MEC Madikizela recently embarked on a province-wide tour encouraging the taxi industry and civil society to participate in the provincial taxi lekgotla which will allow for inputs, suggestions and recommendations to feed the national lekgotla.
The objectives of the Provincial Lekgotla is to pave the way for stakeholders in the taxi industry to engage each other in order to reimagine the industry.
