Minister Maynier to announce Western Cape tourism season readiness measures

On Thursday, 5 December 2019, the MEC for Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier will be making the opening address at the Premier’s First Thursday and announcing the measures taken by the Western Cape government to ensure the province is ready to welcome visitors ahead of tourism season, including the establishment of a new Tourism Law Enforcement Unit in partnership with the City of Cape Town.

The theme for this month’s First Thursday event is “All things tourism” and, in collaboration with the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, will showcase a number of the great tourism organisations contributing to economic growth and job creation in the Western Cape. These include regional and local tourism authorities and businesses such as 18 Gangster Museum, Discovery iKasi, 4roomed eKasi Culture, City Sight Seeing, Two Oceans Aquarium and more. The Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities would like to invite all interested media to attend the Premier’s First Thursday event. Minister Maynier will be available for interviews and would encourage media to interview the many representatives of the tourism industry also in attendance.
