Minister Mapisa-Nqakula hosts Gender-Based Violence Dialogue, 19 Nov

On Monday, 19 November 2018, Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms. Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula will host a Gender-Based Violence and Intimate Femicide Dialogue at the Apostolic Faith Mission in Kwathema, in partnership with almost ten NGOs in the area.

The dialogue aims to highlight the plight of women and girls in the country and to find best suitable ways to prevent violence against women and girls from even occurring.

Minister Mapisa-Nqakula is of the view that the starting point in the fight against gender based violence is addressing it's root causes. ‘Only when we lend our ears to those directly and indirectly affected by gender based violence and femicide will we make remarkable progress in the fight against this phenomenon,’ said Minister Mapisa-Nqakula.

Additionally, as the Chairperson of the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster, Minister Mapisa-Nqakula hopes this dialogue will further contribute to the security cluster’s efforts in enforcing existing laws that protect women and give additional support to women and families affected by gender based violence.

Members of the media are invited to the dialogue as follows
