Minister of Energy, Mr Jeff Radebe, and the Mayor of Mbombela Municipality, Cllr Sibusiso Mathonsi, will conduct the Electrification Switch-on and Community Engagement at Tekwane North, Mbombela Municipality on Friday, 12 April 2019.
The events will enable the Minister and the Mayor to monitor progress and directly interact with the community (beneficiaries of newly energised homes) on the electrification programme of government.
Through the Integrated National Electrification Programme (INEP), to date the Department of Energy has energised more than 87% of households in South Africa and aims to achieve universal access to electrification by 2025 as stipulated in the National Development Plan.
As the country’s economy continues to develop, the growing demand for energy remains a focus for attention locally and internationally among ordinary citizens, businesses and captains of industry. The Minister of Energy invites members of the media to attend and cover this event that is scheduled as follows:
