Minister Mbalula heads to Moloto Road

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula will lead a delegation of senior government officials to various sections of Moloto Road, on Friday 15 November 2019.

The Minister, along with Gauteng Premier David Makhura and the MECs responsible for Transport in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Gauteng will take part in a sod turning ceremony, to mark the handover of Gauteng’s portion of Moloto Road to SANRAL. Officials will also participate in various road safety initiatives.

In addition, the ministerial delegation will embark on a remembrance convoy (in memory of those who have lost their lives on Moloto Road).

In the latest collision, a bus overturned just after the Roodeplaat Dam turnoff, in the Cullinan area, yesterday morning. Two people died and 39 others were injured, five of them seriously.  Minister Mbalula has sent his condolences to the bereaved.

Members of the media are invited to take part in Friday’s proceedings, transport will be made available. (Transport arranged to ferry media colleagues from Pretoria to Moloto will depart at 06H00 from the Prasa House, 1040 Burnett Street, Hatfield, Pretoria)
