Minister Dlamini Zuma to deliver a keynote address at a virtual IDDR commemorative event

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs  (CoGTA), Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will as a host, deliver a keynote address at a virtual commemorative event of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR). 

In line with its long-standing tradition of provincial rotation, the commemoration will be convened jointly with the Gauteng Provincial Government led by the MEC responsibe for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Lebogang Maile. 

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is commemorated annually in the month of October to raise awareness about disaster reduction. It focuses on how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters, as well as the importance of reducing those risks in times disasters. 

The 2020 virtual event will take place under the theme “Substantially increase the number of countries with national and local disaster risk reduction strategies by 2020”.
