Minister Aaron Motsoaledi addresses youth recruited for digitisation of Home Affairs records, 1 Feb

Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi to address the first cohort of the 10 000 unemployed youth with IT, Records and Document Management, recruited for the digitisation of Home Affairs records.
 
The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, is scheduled to address the first cohort of the 10 000 unemployed youth with IT, Records and Document Management skills, recruited for the digitisation of Home Affairs records, tomorrow in Benoni, Ekurhuleni.
 
The three-year, R2.4 billion project for the digitization of civic records was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the State of the Nation Address (SONA), on 10 February 2022.
 
On 11 August 2022, Minister Motsoaledi explained the digitisation project and unpacked the implementation approach, including the process for recruiting 10 000 young people who will help in converting 350 million records of the SA population, from paper files to an electronic format.
 
The first group is currently undergoing Home Affairs specific training in Benoni before they return to workstations in their home provinces.
