The Military Police arrests a soldier for possession of a consignment of cigarettes under the National Lockdown Alert Level 4
The Military Police (MP) arrested a non-commissioned officer (NCO) in the Seshego area on Sunday, 31 May 2020 for possession of a consignment of cigarettes found in a military vehicle he was driving. The suspect was arrested and taken to the local South African Police Services (SAPS) station for processing. The suspect cannot be named yet as he has not appeared in a court of law.
The MP investigators followed up on a tip-off about a military vehicle that was carrying a consignment of suspected illegal cigarettes and managed to trace and arrest the suspect. An investigation on the matter is currently underway and the findings thereof will inform the preferred charges against the NCO.
