Gauteng Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs hosts social cohesion conference, 17 Nov

MEC’s for Cogta and Human Settlements and Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation to host a traditional affairs and social cohesion conference

The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation aim to invest greater energy in outlining their traditional affairs functions and support to the communities. 

The two Departments will host the Traditional Affairs and Social Cohesion Conference. The conference aims to achieve the following:

  • To clarify the legislative framework (recognition criteria)
  • To celebrate the diversity of cultures in Gauteng, while facilitating tolerance and respect;
  • To facilitate trust in the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to coordinate key stakeholders protecting the rights enshrined in the Constitution;
  • Noting the limited financial resources available to the Department, develop actions that the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs can implement in its cohesion programme.
