MEC Thandi Shongwe visits Kinross Golf Club during Coronavirus COVID-19 lockdown, 9 Apr

MEC Blessing Thandi Shongwe to interact with homeless people during the 21 days lockdown in Gert Sibande

The MEC for Social Development Blessing Thandi Shongwe will tomorrow, 09 April 2020 visit homeless people in Kinross Golf Club, Gert Sibande District Municipality. The homeless people were placed by the Department of Social Development as part of the department Operation Search for Homeless people in the province.

The aim of the MEC visits is to observe the state of service and support they receive since their placement at the shelter as one of the  measures to response to the COVID -19 pandemic during the 21 days’ lockdown.

MEC will also hand over sanitizers, gloves and mask to Kinross homeless Shelter and encourage them about the role that they can play towards curbing the spread of COVID -19 during the 21 days’ lockdown period.

Currently the Department of Social Development have placed 622 homeless people in the province and they have been provided meals, dignity packs and sanitizers.
