MEC Tertuis Simmers updates Dunoon Project Steering Committee on re-blocking to combat spread of COVID-19, 29 Jun

Tomorrow, 29 June 2020, Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers will engage the Dunoon Project Steering Committee to provide an update on the planned re-blocking as part of the Rapid Informal Settlements Support and Upgrade Programme (RISSUP) in the area, to assist in combatting COVID-19.

This update, which follows a host of stakeholder engagements, will cover a range of topics and also include the signing of a pledge to demonstrate the Western Cape Government’s commitment to speedily commence with the construction of the Transitional Residential Units (TRA’s) in the Permanent Residential Area (PRA’s).

Minister Simmers said: “Our commitment to the most vulnerable in this area, particularly the elderly and disabled still stands. The sooner this process can commence without any further delays, the better for all. This is another critical aspect if we’re going to win this fight against COVID-19.”

In adhering to the COVID-19 regulations, particularly in keeping with social distancing, the engagement (see attached), can also be followed on Minister Simmers’ Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/HumanMinWC

There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
