MEC Sambatha to visit Sibanye Stillwater after 51 miners test positive for COVID-19

MEC Madoda Sambatha will today at 14h00 visit Sibanye Stillwater Thembalani Shaft (Bleskop, old Rustenburg road) to monitor compliance with workplace lockdown regulations.

A total of 51 mine workers yesterday tested positive for COVID-19 taking number of confirmed cases to 53 at Sibanye.

MEC Sambatha will meet with mine management to discuss way forward and case management.

There are now 71 mine related confirmed cases in Bojanala. Ten cases have been confirmed at Royal Bafokeng Platinum Mine (Rasimone), six at Impala Platinum and two at Lonmin.
