MEC Pillay to launch One Home One Garden Programme in Umgungundlovu District
KwaZulu-Natal Finance MEC, Ravi Pillay, in his capacity as uMgungundlovu District champion, will (on Tuesday the 23rd of June 2020) launch the One Home One Garden programme in uMgungundlovu.
Championed by the KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, this programme forms part of the province’s comprehensive response to Covid-19 and other challenges resulting from the national lockdown including food insecurity.
Through the programme, the provincial government seeks to assist and encourage families to take up gardening so as to fight food insecurity. The uMgungundlovu launch of the programme will take place in Dambuza, outside Pietermaritzburg where 10 needy families, including child headed households, have been identified as beneficiaries. They will receive seedlings and garden tools as part of this launch.
