MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube hosts Virtual Economic Summit as part of Womens Month, 14 Aug

This Friday, we will conven a Virtual Economic Summit focusing on bridging the digital gender gap. I wish to extend an invitation to women across all corners of the province.

It is my considered view that any attempt to drive women empowerment will not have an impact without adequate access to the digital infrastructure.

Critically, women in deep rural areas and in the townships faces triple oppression because of the lack of access to economic opportunities and the lack of access to digital infrastructure.

With the outbreak of COVID-19, the world stands on the brink of a technological revolution that has altered its current socio-economic and industrial, landscape.

We are seeing a fundamental shift in how we produce, consume and relate to one another.

Women must not be left behind in this technological change and the emergence of new trends. We now have sectors such as the Internet of Things, robotics, artificial intelligence and 3D printing.

The line-up of speakers and topics for discussion will enable the women of KZN to discuss strategies that will help them explore and access benefits of the digital infrastructure.

Members of the media and members of the public are invited to be part of this digital revolution.
