MEC Makalo Mohale hosts 2021 Public Service Month celebration 23 Sept

September is dedicated to the Public Service, Heritage, Tourism, Arbor and Police Commemoration. Public Service Month is regarded as an integrated service delivery improvement mechanism and an essential part of government’s strategy to revitalize the Batho Pele Policy of 1997 with a specific focus on honouring those public servants who serve the nation across the three spheres of government.

This year Public Service Month is commemorated under the theme:  “The Year of Charlotte Maxeke – building the capacity of the State through a resilient workforce that responds to the coronavirus pandemic”. The proposed theme aims to methodically examine how the Public Service is managing this new and fast-changing service delivery environment shaped by the coronavirus pandemic and other challenges.

The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs will be hosting a Public Service Month on the 23rd September 2021 at Petrusburg.

During his budget speech, MEC Makalo Mohale said, “public servants are the fuel that drives the wheels of service delivery. Our people deserve a public service full of people with a culture of service, professionalism, competent but above all responsive to the needs of the people they serve”.

Towards this commitment, MEC Makalo Mohale will launch department Customer Care Unit with the aim to handle all customer related issues to ensure that Batho Pele is a reality and not just a compliance matter and will also handover production assets to selected entrepreneurs. Inoseng Primary School will also receive a fresh green look and feel as part of Arbor month.
