MEC Jacob Mamabolo addresses 3rd Technology and Innovation Conference in Pretoria, 16 Oct

Gauteng MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure Jacob Mamabolo will on Wednesday, 16 October 2019, deliver a keynote address at the 3rd Technology and Innovation Conference (TIC) hosted by the University of Pretoria.

The conference brings together technology experts, innovators and decision-makers from across the public and private sector as well as the academia to engage on developments and share ideas around digital and technological innovation in the country.

This follows the recent launch of the inaugural Provincial Annual Transport Innovation Seminar where transport infrastructure industry players and research institutions shared ideas and solutions to improve efficiencies in the sector.

Mamabolo’s attendance is part of the department’s drive to engage with the private sector, government and institutions of higher learning in a bid to find innovative solutions to improve the transport infrastructure.

The meeting is part of consultations that MEC Mamabolo will be conducting during October Transport Month with stakeholders across the entire transport value chain in order to position Gauteng as the City Region of Smart Mobility.

The department’s key priorities for a creating a city region for smart mobility include the reduction of road fatalities, decongesting Gauteng roads and also depolluting the road network.

Mamabolo has already held consultative meetings with Members of Mayoral Committees for Roads and Transport across all development corridors where he outlined the strategy.
