The Department of Education is ready to administer the 2017 Grade 12 examinations which commences in earnest tomorrow morning, 24 October 2017. 100 041 fulltime and 27 555 part time candidates will be writing English HL and FAL Paper 1 at 1 685 centres across the province. The department launched the matric countdown and the signing of the Examination pledge by learners as part of announcing its readiness two weeks ago.

The examination writing will conclude on the 28th of November 2017 and marking will commence from the 04th of December 2017 to the 15th of December 2017 at the 23 marking centres in the five districts. Results will be released by the Minister on the 4th of January 2018 and the MEC will release the provincial results on the 05th of January 2018.

The department appeals to communities to create a conducive environment for learners to properly study and revise so as to prepare thoroughly for these examinations. Learners are urged on the other hand not to involve themselves in paper leakages, cheating and any irregular practices during examinations. Communities and learners are also encouraged to report such irregular practices immediately.  The candidates are requested to stay focused and study hard.

“The time has come for our learners to prove how much work they have done during the course of the year. Work twice as hard and there is substitute for hard work and you will soon thank yourselves for putting in so much effort. We wish you the best of luck” said MEC Ishmael Kgetjepe.
