CoGTA MEC Moiloa promises continued support from government for Amandebele ka Ndzundza
MEC for Departments of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) and Human Settlements, MEC Dikgang Uhuru Moiloa pledged his support for Amandebele ka Ndzunza during his address at their Annual General Meeting which took place at Sokhulumi in Bronkhorstspruit on 12 May 2018.
This was supported by his donation of 15 mini tablets to the Traditional Council. “The laptops will be a tool of trade to make sure that the Council is professionally managed,” said MEC Moiloa. In recognition for Amandebele ka Ndzundza community the MEC also donated a Nguni cow. He pointed out that Gauteng government will work together with the Traditional Council to make sure that the lives of people in traditional communities prosper.
MEC Moiloa also handed over three houses to their beneficiaries after the annual general meeting. The houses were built by the South African Women in Construction (SAWIC). Thanking the women-only run company, the MEC said “This goes to show that given the opportunity women can achieve more.”
In a surprise move the SAWIC donated a new 4x4 bakkie to the Amandebele ka Ndzundza Senior Traditional Council leader, MP Mahlangu and his community. “This is to make sure that the senior traditional leader is given support to be able to achieve his mandate of improving the lives of his community,” said Clara Mwenze, National Chairperson of SAWIC.
Also speaking at the meeting was Tshwane Executive Mayor, Solly Msimanga. This was after touring the Sokhulumi village to listen to the problems that the rural communities encounter on daily basis. He promised that his government will try to resolve the service delivery issues faced by the communities. “We will attend to issues as the Municipality of this area to make sure that people of Sokhulumi and surrounding areas live a better life,” said the Executive Mayor.
Stakeholders who attended the event included Amandebele Ndzundza Sokhulumi, the royal families, Amakhosana, traditional councils, Amandebele Ba Lebelo Traditional Council, civil society organisations, provincial government, City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, ESKOM, SAWIC members, Sokhulumi faith-based organisations, business communities, and CoGTA officials who accompanied the MEC.
